Desi and I, the adventurers behind Lagoon Pearls, are deeply passionate about exploring far-flung destinations, immersing ourselves in the embrace of nature, and uncovering the captivating histories of remote locations. Over the course of two decades, we have been fortunate to visit many remarkable places. However, French Polynesia holds a special place in our hearts—a true paradise situated south of the equator, comprised of countless atolls and lagoons.

From the moment we set foot on its mesmerizing shores, we were captivated by the warm-hearted people and their captivating stories. We embraced their vibrant culture and treasured traditions, which became a part of our own journey. The landscapes were simply breathtaking, and the azure blue seas cast a spell upon us, entrancing our senses.

During our most recent visit, a local friend extended a gracious invitation to explore one of the renowned pearl farms nestled in this idyllic haven—the birthplace of the famous Tahitian Pearls. The experience was nothing short of magical, as we marveled at the unique beauty of these living gems—the only ones of their kind in the world.

Affectionately known as Black pearls, these mesmerizing treasures enchant with a captivating range of hues. From delicate, ethereal gray to deep, enchanting blues and greens, Tahitian pearls truly earn their fitting nickname as the “Rainbows of the Seas.”Their primary hues span a remarkable spectrum, starting from pale Dove Grey and extending to Near Jet Black. But what truly sets Tahitian pearls apart is the display of stunning overtones, which add a touch of magic to their allure. These famous secondary colors create a mesmerizing play of shades, including the likes of Peacock, Green, Rose, Aquamarine, Silver/Steel, and Copper.
